Helping Hand - Helfende Hand

As you note there has been no answer to the question about the similarities between the Helping Hand from the Bishops and the aid that has been published by Reinhard Leps in the German magazin. I did some research and noticed that the Helping Hand (or the Bishop Clamp as it is called in USA) has been published some years ago in 2 American magazins.
There are only two possible explanations: One is that an editor had a flash of genius and invented an aid that matches the helping hand by pure chance in the most decisive points: base, bars, shape and fixture and the use of further tools (the clamps). Something like this can happen.
I really don´t like the second explanation.

Yes, I join your astonishment. Maybe things will clarify?
I want to pick up the topic of the similarities between the aid that Reinhard Leps had published in the last Feinschnitt kreativ and the original, the Helping Hand from Homer and Carop Bishop.
It is important to me to leave no question unanswered and I sent an email to Reinhard Leps, calling his attention to the posts and asking him if he would like to write a comment. At that time he told me that he had no time to do so because he had lots of work for the new issue of the magazin to do.
Today we learned that the issue is finished and will arrive in our mail boxes this week (I am really looking forward to reading it
) and therefor I want to remind him of his promised answer. I know that Reinhard is reading regularly in the forum and it would be nice to read something from his point of view. You should see what I saw!

---
I started building the Helping Hand - the bad weather encouraged me to hole up in my workshop. I adjusted the width of my base board to the width of my current project and the two base boards are 400mm x 500mm. I chose two MDF boards with a thickness of 19mm, because I like it rustic style. The small bars for the undersite are 10mm x 30mm, I will build the bars from 28mm x 48mm softwood and shorten the 48mm-bar to 35 mm. I could not get measures according my ideas in the DIY store.
My additional idea is to place a 2mm perspex disc on the base plate to keep the pattern down on the plate and protect it. Let us wait and see what will remain of this idea until I have finished the piece
