do you have an idea to translate "Schwibbogen" into English?
Some dictionaries says "Arches" but I'm not sure....

ollo ich habe da auch schon nach gesucht aber ich glaube mit arch liegst DU schon ganz richtig. Sue Mey auf jeden Fall bezeichnet ihre Schwibbögen so

Ich lese mich ja auch durch viele englischsprachige Anleitungen und Bücher und habe bisher die Begriffe "arch" bzw. "arches" aber auch immer wieder die deutsche Bezeichnung "Schwibbogen" gelesen. Vielleicht ist es so ein Wort wie "Kindergarten", das es auch auf Deutsch im englischen Sprachgebrauch gibt.

My program says its Candle Arches. The program is Bing.

it is funny: my German "Bing" says "flying buttress" as translation and that is totally wrong.
"Candle Arches" is correct.
Is it popular in US, did you ever saw a candle arches?

We have seen a few here in the states but they are not as popular as in Germany. We have never cut one but might try one some day.
We find that some times we get better translations by highlighting only the one word and then click to translate.
